Darcy Breakey - Head Coach

Coach Darcy is set to begin her sixth season behind the bench of the Jr. Hurricanes. In 2019/20, Darcy led the team in their inaugural season as the Mississauga Jr. Hurricanes (formerly Jr. Chiefs). In 2023, the Jr. Hurricanes came third in the US-CAN Cup Tournament in Kitchener, ON and finished 3rd in the Ontario Women's Hockey League (OWHL) U22 League standings. In 2022 the Jr. Hurricanes won the US-CAN Cup Tournament in Kitchener, ON, finished 2nd in their division (Central West) and won bronze at the OWHL U22 Elite Championship Weekend!

In 2017/18 she led the Oakville Jr Hornets to a PWHL silver medal and an OWHA provincial silver finishing 3rd overall in the PWHL regular-season standings.  Darcy joined the Mississauga Chiefs Midget AA team in 2018/19 as Assistant Coach. With a wealth of experience working with this age group, Darcy is eager to continue her work with the Jr. team and within the Elite Performance Program.   

Darcy is also involved with OWHA High Performance Program most recently being named Head Coach of Team Ontario Blue who competed at the U18 National Championship in Dawson Creek, BC. In 2023, she served as Assistant Coach of Team Ontario at the Canada Winter Games where the team earned bronze. Previously, she served as Head Coach of Team Ontario Blue at the 2021/22 Central Canada Challenge and Assistant Coach for Team Ontario Blue at the 2019/20 U18 National Championship. She was also the Head Coach of Team Bach at the 2022 Ontario Summer Games who won gold. 

Her strong leadership, motivational and mentoring skills, as well as her commitment to the collective and individual development of the girls earn her the respect of her players.

Darcy holds a degree in International Development Studies from the University of Guelph, as well as a Bachelor of Education. She is an HP1 certified coach and a high school teacher in the Halton District School Board.

Josh Wiley - Associate Coach

Coach Josh Wiley joined the Jr. Hurricanes in 2019 as an assistant coach and is set to return for his sixth season as associate coach. In 2017/18, Josh was the assistant coach of the Oakville Jr. Hornets who finished third in PWHL standings and came second in PWHL Final 4 and OWHA Provincials. He has supported the Jr. Hurricanes program to a 3rd place finish in the OWHL U22 Elite Championship weekend in 2022 and a 3rd place finish in the OWHL League standings in 2023. He also participates as a camp coach in the OWHA High Performance Program. Coach Josh plays an integral role in the defensive tactics and penalty kill in addition to scouting and recruiting. His tactical expertise paired with his passion for the game makes him a tremendous asset to the Jr. Hurricanes.

Riley Dane - RMT, Hons. BA Kin

The Jr. Hurricanes are thrilled to welcome back Riley Dane to the support staff for the 2023/24 season. Growing up Riley was a competitive gymnast. She attended the University of Western where she competed as a Varsity Track & Field athlete. Riley graduated with a Honours Bachelor of Arts specializing in Kinesiology. She went on to receive her Diploma in Massage Therapy at Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy. She has completed placements working with high-risk pregnancy patients, MS patients and many events such as the Toronto Triathlon Festival and Waterfront Marathon. She was also selected to be a student therapist working with NHL and AHL players at the Biosteel #CAMP. She has a  passion for helping people return to doing what they love and assisting athletes in maintaining and treating their bodies so that they can compete at the highest level of sport. 

Riley can be found treating athletes at The LAB and at her home clinic Recalibrate Massage Therapy. 

Alex Ivanov & Max Topol - On Ice Skill Instructors (RHA Hockey)

Alex Ivanov is the head instructor and founder of RHA Hockey Academy. Alex and Max bring many years of professional hockey experience from the top leagues in Europe and Russia and integrate it into the RHA hockey system. The Jr. Hurricanes are pleased to have Alex and Max back for their fourth season. Their unique and elite skills instruction is a critical component in the individual skill development of the Jr. Hurricanes and affiliated players.
